My doctoral degree is in clinical psychology and I've been in private practice for 18 years in New York City and across the street from Vassar College in Poughkeepsie, NY.

Since beginning my training over 25 years ago, I've worked in many different clinical settings, ranging from inpatient/hospitalization to college counseling, and across many different diagnoses, including psychosis, trauma, disordered eating, addiction and personality disorders.  As my work has grown and developed, I've deepened my training and experience by obtaining a four-year certification as a psychoanalyst (2010) and have also become interested in other philosophies of healing.  As a result, I completed my certification as a 200 hour-level Yoga teacher (2012) and went on to complete an additional 400 hour training in same (2013).  In the fall of 2017, I completed a Level I training program in Mind-Body Integration with Anodea Judith at the Kripalu Center for Yoga and Health.

This experience informs my holistic approach, enabling me to bring a solid background of diagnosis and treatment planning to each consultation.  I offer a biopsychosocial framework, which means that I consider people to be influenced by biology, psychology and their social contexts.   Generally, the arc of treatment will contain all of these variables, though the emphasis placed on any one area will depend entirely on the individual.  For example, work with trauma often focuses more on the psychological and social aspects of one's life, with biology coming into play slightly less significantly.  In contrast, when working with chronic health concerns, it's likely that all three areas will receive fairly balanced attention.

In addition to work, I enjoy traveling and photography. All of the images on this website were taken during various trips, most notably, though not exclusively, to New Zealand (2012) and Iceland (2014), where I explored the distinct glaciers of both countries.  I have been fortunate in being able to combine my love of travel with my interest in meeting and sharing ideas with psychologists and therapists from many different countries and look forward to further involvement with my international colleagues.
